ABSTRACT

Objective To study the influence of critical thinking training for nurses on transfusion security in emergency patients. Methods The nurses from the emergency department and outpatient department were trained with critical thinking. The incidence of transfusion safety flaws before training was compared to that after training. Results The total incidence of transfusion safety flaws after training was 10.0%, significantly lower than 35.8% before training(χ2=164.8, P<0.001).Conclusion The training of nurses' critical thinking may not only improve the comprehensive quality of nurses, but ensure the safety of transfusion.

ABSTRACT

Objective To analyze the dialysis adequacy of the maintenance hemodialysis patients under different dialyzate flow. Methods Forty-eight patients under maintenance hemodialysis were divided into four groups according to dialyzate flow:500 ml/min group,600 ml/min group,700 ml/min group and 800 ml/min group, with 12 patients in each group. Each group was treated 6 weeks. The albumin (Alb),hemoglobin(Hb),hematocrit(Hct),blood urea nitrogen (BUN),serum creatinine(SCr) and parathyroid hormone(iPTH) levels before and after treatment were examined,Kt/V and urea reduction ratio(URR) were calculated separately. Results There was no significant difference in Kt/V between 500 ml/min group and 600 ml/min group.Kt/V was no increased when the dialyzate flow rate increased from 500 ml/min to 600 ml/min,that was to say they could not improve the dialysis adequacy. There was statistically significant difference in Kt/V among 500 ml/min group,600 ml/min group,700 ml/min group and 800 ml/min group, and 800 ml/min group on the dialysis adequacy was better.Different dialyzate flow on the impact of the dialysis adequacy was compared in self-control method.Kt/V increased along with the increase of dialyzate flow, and the dialysis adequacy and dialyzate flow showed positive correlation. Conclusion The high dialyzate flow of dialysis treatment can improve Kt/V and has significant effect in enhancing the dialysis adequacy.

ABSTRACT

0.05),but the ratio of fPSA/tPSA in PC group was very lower than that in BPH group(P20.0 ?g/L,the sensitivity and the specificity was 91.6%(22/24) and 87.5%(21/24).Conclusion It can improve the differential diagnosis between PC and BPH to use the ratio of fPSA/tPSA combining with the serum tPSA.It is important for the observation of the differential diagnosis and the therapeutic effects of PC and the preparation of the high risk persons and etc.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVETo compare the therapeutic effects between CHOP-PVP and CHOP protocols for non-Hodgkin's lymphoma (NHL).

METHODSOf 79 NHL patients, 40 received CHOP-PVP and 39 received CHOP protocol. Kaplan-Meier method was used for survival rate and Cox regression model for prognostic factors.

RESULTSThe complete remission rate and overall response rate were 57.5% (23/40) and 87.5% (35/40) in CHOP-PVP group and they were 33.3% (13/39) and 69.2% (27/39) in CHOP group. There was a significant difference (P < 0.05) in the complete remission rate and overall response rate between the two groups. The main toxicity was myelosuppression. The leukocytopenia rate was 82.5% in CHOP-PVP group and 71.8% in CHOP group (P > 0.05) with no fatality in either group.

CONCLUSIONCHOP-PVP protocol may be more effective for non-Hodgkin's lymphoma than CHOP protocol without increasing toxicity.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVETo investigate the effect of IL-12 on IFN-gamma and IL-10 production of peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) in chronic hepatitis B virus infection patients during IFN-alpha treatment.

METHODSBefore and after IFN-alpha treatment of 3 months and 6 months, PBMC of 20 patients with chronic hepatitis B virus infection were collected and cultured in vitro in the culture fluid containing PHA (100 microg/ml), HBcAg (1 microg/ml), or HBeAg (1 microg/ml) for 48 h under the condition of the presence or absence of IL-12 (10 ng/ml). Then the levels of IFN-gamma and IL-10 were determined by ELISA.

RESULTSThere were 12 responders and 8 nonresponders to IFN-alpha treatment. In the responders, the enhancing effect of IL-12 on IFN-gamma production was significantly greater after IFN-alpha treatment than before the treatment. The production of IL-10 was suppressed in the presence of IL-12 after 3 months and 6 months of IFN-alpha treatment. In the same treatment time, the level of IFN-gamma in the presence of IL-12 was significantly higher than that in the absence of IL-12. To the nonresponders, the enhancing effect of IL-12 on IFN-gamma production was also significantly increased after IFN-alpha treatment. Moreover, in the same treatment time, the level of IFN-gamma in the presence of IL-12 was significantly higher than that in the absence of IL-12.

CONCLUSIONSThe enhancing effect of IL-12 on IFN-gamma production of PBMC in patients with chronic hepatitis B virus infection is increased during IFN-alpha treatment. IFN-alpha and IL-12 may enhance the efficacy for the treatment of chronic hepatitis B virus infection.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the reverse effect and mechanism of the extracted solution of chinese medicine MBC on the drug-resistance of K562/ADM in vitro. Methods MTT assay was used to determine the IC50 of ADM on K562/ADM cell line and the reverse multiples of the drug-resistance before and after MBC treatment. Flow cytometry(FCM) was applied to assess the intracellular concentration of Rh123. Results 8?10 -1 ?g/ml MBC increased cytotoxic effect of ADM on 562/ADM cells, the reverse multiple was 6 28, and MBC could increase the intracellular concentration of Rh123. Conclusion MBC could increase killing effect of ADM on the drug-resistant K562/ADM cell and partly reverse the drug-resistance of K562/ADM cell.
